Howards Gorhuish was a former dairy farm (the original house built in the late 17th century) and Peartree Cottage, which adjoins the main house, was formerly the cattle barn or shippen and was converted to a holiday cottage in the 1990s. We took ownership in 2011 and undertook a full refurbishment of the cottage, bringing it all, especially the kitchen/diner and en-suites, up to modern standards, whilst retaining its old world charm and character features such as oak beams and a wood-burning stove. We established the business in 2012 and since then have proudly received 4 star rating and a Gold Award from Visit England for consecutive years since then.
Peartree Cottage has it's own private patio and enclosed garden with garden furniture and barbecue but our guests are very welcome to enjoy the adjoining wild flower meadow, relaxing on seating provided or in 'Papillon', the cedar summer house. The whole area is a wonderful haven for birds and butterflies. The meadow has paths running through it for you to wander around - a peaceful and rural setting.
We are particularly proud of our Visit England 4 star rating and Gold Award along with the accreditation of welcoming Cyclists, Families and Walkers.
